Programs and Services
OCAP is pleased to provide you with a host of employment and training programs specific to Aboriginal people within Ontario. For further information on any of the following programs, we invite you to contact us by filling out our online form with your request.
Please note that limited funding is currently available for clients that qualify. If you are interested in any of the below programs, please apply 4 to 6 weeks prior to the program start date.
Program | Description |
| On the Job Training Program | to provide work experience and training by providing subsidies and other specified costs to employers |
| Targeted Wage Subsidies | to provide work experience by providing subsidies to employers |
| Community Based Skills Maintenance | to ensure that skills acquired through training programs or employment are maintained or enhanced between jobs |
| Self-Employment Assistance | provides financial assistance and training to individuals in receipt of EI Benefits who want to start their own business but will normally lose EI benefits as a result |
| Job Creation Partnership | to support the creation of meaningful employment opportunities for clients, with activities that help in the community or the local economy |
| Training Purchase | to assist qualified individuals to enter into a variety of training courses from private institutions which will increase their skill level |
| Cultural Enhancement Program | to assist Aboriginal artisans who are striving to become self-employed in a cultural industry (arts, music, etc.) |
| Career Experience / Job Shadow | to assist participants in assessing their strengths and weaknesses in identifying a career goal |
| Employment Supports | limited funds available to assist individuals enter or re-enter the workforce |
| Income Support | income support in several different areas |
| Youth Programs | Ages 15-30 |
| Youth Internship | provides recent university and college graduates with career related skilled and work experience to help them make a successful transition into the workforce |
| Stay-In-School Initiative | provides wage subsidy to employer to hire high-school age youth who are in danger of quitting school. Students must remain in school to stay on program |
